Process for School Closures & Delayed Opening

In the event of bad weather, North Wildwood School District uses a variety of resources to determine if conditions exist that warrant a delayed start or closure of schools. Every effort will be made to announce a decision by 5:30am to close or delay the opening of school.

Delayed Opening

• School will start two hours after normal time.

• School will end at its normal time.

• Breakfast & Lunch will be available at school. Meal times may be adjusted based on the delayed start schedule.

• Extracurricular Activities

• Before School: There will be no before-school activities.

• During School: Activities and field trips during the school day that require transportation will be decided on a case-by-case basis. Activity and field trip times will not be adjusted, however, if the trip is scheduled for after the delayed start, transportation will determined if the activity may continue based on road conditions, travel times and distance.

• After School: After-school activities will be decided by the district.

• Delayed starts maximize instructional time with students rather than closing for the entire day; and give the city and district staff additional time to clear roads and sidewalks to ensure the safety of the North Wildwood community.

   

School Closure

• All schools are closed. All scheduled activities in the school building are canceled and sports events and practices are postponed.
